The Other Crafter in my Household

My partner Dave is the other crafter in our household, which probably explains why he understands my cardmaking and never cringes at the amount of money I spend on it. From time to time I like to show off his woodturned pens, keyrings and letter openers for everyone to see. (Please see the photos above. The acrylic items are also turned on a woodturning lathe using mostly the same procedures and products as the wooden ones).

From the top they are:-
- Slimline ballpoint in walnut
- Keyring in rewarewa (NZ native timber)
- Fountain Pen in black velvet acrylic
- Rollerball Pen in capuccino acrylic.

Some other Cards using Serviettes

The first picture is a fridge magnet that has the serviette stuck to a large jigsaw puzzle piece with Mod Podge then coated in more mod podge with glitter added. Another puzzle piece the same shape was used to hide the back. Add a piece of magnet and stick in one your fridge or use some foam tape and attach it to a card for a card and gift in one.

Daring Cardmakers 'Kitchen Dare' 27 October 2006

After a mild panic ,when the subject of Kitchen came up, I realised with some delight that my favourite technique, decoupaging serviettes onto cards fitted the theme. The top layer of your chosen serviette is stuck onto card, I tend to use white so it doesn't distort the colours, using Mod Podge glue. Another layer of Mod Podge is brushed lightly over the top to give a shine and is also used to attach the glitter. When dry cut to size and layer on coordinating coloured card.

My First Design for the CardMakers Dare Blog

Friendship was a challenge for me. I don't usually use a lot of sayings or words in my cards and own very few word stamps. I used Microsoft Word to print this greeting using font: - dauphin and colour:- lavender. The words are layered onto purple card then floral scrapbook paper and finally onto a lavender folded A5 card. A purple flower brad was added to the corner of the words as a finishing touch.

The designs for the first dare 'Friendship' were unveiled on the Blog on the 20 October 2006. To see the work of the other designers go to: http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/

Serviette Wedding Card - 5 October 2006

I'm not good at designing wedding cards so when I saw this serviette at a Kitchen shop while on holiday last week I just had to have it. I love working with serviettes, gluing the single picture layer down with Mod Podge and also using Mod Podge as a top layer to hold a fine sprinkling of glitter. I like to think that the creases that form give the image texture.
