DCM: Simply Mono

It's Lythan's turn this week and she has challenged us to only use One Colour.


I've been boring this week and used my favourite colour blue to create an Easter card using glitter and metallic card.

I bet you thought this was never coming. So did I. Emily's prompt for this week was shoes.

DCM: - Twins and More

This week it's my turn to set the dare. I found out a couple of weeks ago that members of our family are expecting twins in September this year. I immediately thought Yes I'm going to have to think up some cards for Twins, so I've challenged the Daring CardMakers team to help me get some ideas.

Here's mine:


I made the pink one first and then because there seemed to be so many pink cards on the blog, made and added the blue one instead. Thankyou very much to www.WelcomeBaby.com for the kind use of their twin poems. You can see I made them and photographed them a week or so apart as I obviously couldn't remember which way I put the card the first time.

DCM Blog Dare - Random

Both my boys selected four items out of a plastic bag for me. Lucky that as I had a go with the first four and forgot I couldn't add anything else so I had this nice card but it didn't fit the dare.


Then I moved on to the second set and with the addition of cardstock and watercolour paper used only: Acrylic Paint, Cork, Watercolour Pencils and Die Cuts. In my stash I had credit card backgrounds made a few months ago using acrylic paint. So I grabbed those and the cork and used my favourite flower die and die cut the flowers, then mixed them all up. The background is water colour pencils scribbled on to water colour paper and then sprayed with water.

DCM Dare: - Super Heroes

Jo's dare for this week is Super Heroes anything from the comic book characters to the heroes in your life.

Here's mine:

The three Jack Jack's were cut from 'The Incredibles' wrapping paper stuck to a piece of white card which had been stippled with red and brown ink. While you can't see it in the photo the card was then laminated to give in same shine, then layered on black then a red card blank. The font used was 'kids' also layered onto red and black cardstock.

Book of Me - Week 5

Out of Comfort Zone

Tracey has challenged us to try something out of our comfort zone.

I don't think with this one that I have truly pushed myself out of my comfort zone. What I've done is left the current comfort zone for the safety of a much earlier one.

My cardmaking career started at a 'Krafty kids' party just under 9 year ago when I first saw heat embossing done over a toaster. One of my first stamps was a tulip, bought as a present for me by Dave, and I used white card offcuts, gold embossed the tulip stamp over a toaster and coloured it in with water colour pencils, a paint brush and a glass of water and they became bookmarks.

This card was done with the same:
- watercolour pencils used with an aquash brush
- stamp

different:
- heat tool instead of a toaster
- carl and fiskars cutters instead of a metal ruler and craft knife.

It also comes with memories of a time when all my cardmaking supplies fitted in two baskets and I crafted on the dining room table. Dave and I were together without any kids at the start of a new romance. And of course being pre kids I could leave the baskets beside the dining room table to be there when I needed them.
