The Metallic Card came out and stayed.

Lachlan and I had two birthday cards we needed to get done. One for today for an eight year old girls birthday and one for a seven year old boy. The metallic card was still all over my desk from the current DCM dare.

What's good for the Mum is also good for the six year old.

Here's Lachlan's take on Emily's Week 3 Playing Card prompt 'I Am':

Playing Card - week 3

Emily's prompt this week is 'I Am'. I decided first and foremost that I am Me and I'm quite happy being me. Obviously I'm not perfect and there are always times when I do things I might be sorry for afterwards but overall I like being me.

Little Extra - Recipe

The DCM little extra for this week is make a card using 6 flowers, 7 brads or eyelets and 5 letters. I hope it counts if you use more letters because I've used 13. I never realised until now that the no. of letters in Happy + Birthday is the unlucky for some no. 13. I wonder if that means anything?

Aperture Card from Lachlan

Here's the aperture card that Lachlan has made for his Dad's birthday in a couple of weeks. With a base of marker and highlighter pen he's used masking and DTP techniques to add texture.

Playing Card Art Journal Week 2

Emily's prompt for this week is 'What is Powerful to you'. I went for what gives me the power to craft and the answer to that is my very tolerant, patient and also very crafty DH, Dave. The background is stamped pens to represent his passion, pen turning. If you're interested in seeing what he does click on the link in my sidebar to Dave's Turnings website.

DCM:- Through the Round Window Dare

This dare was given to us by Rhi: -I dare you to make a card with an apperture in it, it can be any shape you like and can be see through or have some covering behind it. It could be a ready made aperture card or lots of small windows punched out, diecut or handcut or one large window. It could be a shaker card and can be for any occasion.

This is what I came up with:

The balloons are the top layer of a serviette stuck onto white card with a glue stick. The serviette piece is inserted behind a piece cut out of bought circle aperture card.

For this one I punched 1" circles in the burgundy card stock stuck in over the top of the ribbon then layered it on gold metallic paper and finally a burgundy card. I added gold punched snowflakes as a final embellishment.

Playing Card Art Journal

After seeing Lythan's playing card I decided to have a go myself. This is a fantastic idea from Emily Falconbridge. Emily's prompt this week was 'Something you are Proud Of'. Somebody I am very proud of is my son Lachlan who is also joining in with the Daring Cardmaker dares.

What Lachlan would like to have in his waredrobe.

Lachlan has used the DCM Raid your Waredrobe dare to show me what he'd like to have in his waredrobe. Lachlan cut the TShirt shape from white card so the card would open at the shoulders. He then decoupaged a Lightning McQueen serviette onto white card and cut out the bits he wanted to use and stuck them onto his shirt with a glue stick.

DCM - Little Extra Imagine

When Kathy asked as to create a little extra using the word Imagine my mind drifted through Imagine, Day Dream, Dream, Sleep and finally to a night sky filled with floaty stars.

Here's my take on the word imagine.

...and to make up for last weeks dare card not using my new die cut machine at all I cut all the stars using my Sidekick.

Thank You Acco New Zealand

Thank You Acco New Zealand for some old fashioned customer service.

My Marbig laminator, a week or so ago, started smoking and crinkling up my laminating. Luckily I was cardmaking and not laminating a certificate or anything important. I sent Acco NZ an email and within a few days I had a fax from a repair service asking me to drop it off for repair. It turned out to be unrepairable. I have since had an EMail offering me an ex demo model which is waiting for me at the repair service's depot where they are going to spend some time showing me how to use it.

I have a tendency to just replace things and not mention it to anyone so I'm very glad that I did this time.

Lachlan's Fabulous Bling!

Here is the card that Lachlan has made for the Daring CardMakers bling and bead dare.

Bling and Beads

The daring cardmakers dare this week has been set by Lynda and she wants us to make cards using bling or beads. I was determined not to come up with a female card and as I got a Sizzix Sidekick for Christmas I was determined to use that as well. This is my Happy New Year 2007 card with bling.
