Ribbons Galore!!

Go and have a look at the DCM blog and see what the lovely people at Ribbon Oasis have given us to play with.

Here's the info for this weeks dare:

"We've a special dare this week. Bea from Ribbon Oasis is sponsoring a challenge to use her fabbylicious range of Christmassy ribbons on our cards. So Lucky Us - we all received an envelope full of ribbons to play with and below you'll find the cards we've made (so far!) So this week we'd love you to join in and make Christmas cards using lots and lots of fabby, yummy ribbon - now that shouldn't be too hard, after all we all love ribbon, don't we? Don't forget that you can replenish and expand your ribbon supply easily by visiting the Ribbon Oasis website - you'll find so much of the gorgeous twirly stuff there you'll be spoilt for choice - we guarantee it!
Now then, just in case you need a bit more enticement to join in our Wrap it in Ribbon for Christmas dare - here's a little sweetener: Bea is giving a ribbonful prize to one lucky darer this week. All you need to do is make a be-ribboned Christmas Card especially for the DCM (no doubling up of challenges this week....), post a link to say where we can see it, or send it by email to daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk for the gallery and you'll be in with a chance of winning. Couldn't be easier, could it?"

Here's my card:

For this dare I cut triangles 3cms wide at the bottom, stamped them with versamark ink and a circle stamp from Stampin' Ups Polka Dots and Petals set then mounted it on gold foil paper. The edges of the beautiful ribbon from Ribbon Oasis was adhered to the back of a piece of 138mm x 95mm SU Very Vanilla Cardstock then layered on to gold foil paper and an SU real red card blank.

DCM: Our Amazing Circle of Friends

The group of friends who got together to form the Daring Cardmakers back in October 2006 has developed and grown into a huge circle of crafting and blogging friends who come together from all over the world to share their inspiration and their talents so enthusiastically, and are always so supportive of each other's cardmaking. In honour of all of you who've helped make this blog so successful, and such a friendly place to "play" we've decided to revisit our very first dare for this our first anniversary, but with a twist. The subject is, as in our original dare "friends", but this time the title is CIRCLE of FRIENDS and we'd like you to incorporate at least one circle into your card. It would make it a very special occasion if for this dare you'd make a card just for the DCM rather than doubling up with other challenges. Please join in and celebrate our first anniversary with us, without all of you - our wonderful extended "Team of Darers" and of course all those who've joined us as Guest Designers over the last year it wouldn't be half as much fun. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARING CARDMAKERS ALL

THANK YOU!!!......

..... Vicky, Kelly & Donna for a fabulous weekend cardmaking at my family's beach house in Waikanae.

We had a fabulous weekend making cards, completing a few layouts and making boxes. The girls very graciously tested out the Stamp A Stack I've got planned for the 10 November 2007. Thanks so much for proof reading the instructions Kelly.

Here's a sample of the Christmas cards we came up with using Stampin' Up sets 'Greetings Galore', 'Loads of Love' and 'Festive Favourites'.

DCM Dare: Animal Instincts

"Hi, Kathy here to set your dare this week, I hope you'll really go wild over this one The theme is ANIMAL and you can use anything that's animal inspired - not bugs, birds or butterflies - though you can include them in your design of course, but really, we're looking for bigger creatures this time! So you could maybe use animal die cuts, animal prints on paper or fabric, or maybe animal words or phrases "grrrrr get down tiger"!!!!"

Here's my take on this week's dare:

All images (c) Stampin' Up! 1990-2007

All products used are Stampin' Up! Take an A5 piece of Whisper white cardstock and fold in half to create a vertical folding card. Take a piece of 'Petals and Paisleys' DSP 105mm by 99mm and stick to base of card front. Stamp Giraffe from 'Wild About You' stamp set in So Saffron ink on whisper white card stock and mat with summer sun and old olive cardstock. The bottom edge of the old olive cardstock has been scalloped using the small corner rounder punch. Adhere to the card blank as shown. Stamp congratulations from 'Warmest Regards' stamp set in old olive ink and mat with old olive card stock. Adhere to the card as shown. 00

All supplies Stampin' Up!. Tear a piece of scrap paper and use this to mask the right hand side of a piece of very vanilla cardstock. Sponge the remaining cardstock with green galore, old olive and encore gold metallic ink. Stamp over the top with tree from 'Load of Love' set and old olive ink. Remove mask and stamp the xmas greeting from 'Love of Love' onto scrap paper and then onto the very vanilla cardstock with green galore ink until completely covered. Stamp again in old olive in the centre. Edge the very vanilla cardstock with the Gold Encore metallic inkpad and layer onto Old Olive cardstock. Spray with a sealer as it's dye ink and will be going through the mail.
