DCM LE: Mother's Recipe

The DCM Little Extra dare this week is to make a card using Mother's Recipe. One Ribbon, Two Buttons and a spoonful of flowers. Put it all together and bake in a craft room until complete.

For my card I took my inspiration from one of the lovely triange cards made by Jayne Mercer in Stamping and Papercraft Vol 13 No. 4. I changed the shape to a more traditional square, changed the colours. Not ones I would usually have put together, they were taken from the SU colour coach. Left out the greeting and added a couple of button die cuts.

All supplies used Stampin' Up! unless noted otherwise: Stamp Set Bodacious Bouquet, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow Cardstock, Pixie Pink, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip Ink, Snail, Stampin' Dimensionals, Flirty Ribbon Originals, Sizzix Sizzlets Button Die.

Fantastic Mail Day!!!

The courier arrived this morning with some Stampin' Up! goodies that have been on my wishlist for far too long. Sale-A-Bration was the perfect time to make them mine.

I received a Crafter Tool Kit which contains all the tools you need for beading, eyelet setting hole making, paper piercing and mats as well. The pouch also has a pocket on the outside for maybe eyelets or paper snips etc. Earth Elements Stampin Write Markers will be perfect for inking different bits of my stamps different colours and colouring stamped images and of course I needed some eyelets to use with my tool kit.

It all arrived at 8am this morning and it's taken till now 5pm in the afternoon to use any of it. The crafters tool kit got tried out first with this card. Another of my use up old Make and Take kit creations and another friendship card to fit in with the DCM dare, see my last post.

SU: - Time Well Spent Stamp Set, Pixie Pink, Green Galore & Whisper White Cardstock, Pixie Pink & Green Galore Classic Ink Pads, Crafters Tool Kit, Snail, Stampin' Dimensionals. Other Clear Glitter, Glue Pen, Paper Snips.

I’m so Excited – Rachel Booth and I are sponsoring this week’s Daring Cardmakers Dare

The daring cardmakers team are always looking for sponsors. It can get a bit expensive always having to come up with a new design and sometimes two every week. If you have a cardmaking related business that would like to give us a hand please contact Jane.

Rachel Booth a UK Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator and Keryn (Me) a New Zealand Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator and both members of the Daring Cardmakers Design Team have sent out images, cardstock, papers and embellishments all by Stampin' Up! to the other members of the design team to create cards with the theme of friendship and love. Please join in with us, Stampin' Up! Product or no Stampin' Up! product. Click here and see the blog post to get ideas from the design team and get details on how to send in your Love/Friendship cards and be in the draw for the spot prizes I have up for grabs.

Here's my card to get you started:

My card uses the faux silk technique. Stamp your images on tissue paper then screw up and straighten out. Glue onto a piece of cardstock using glue stick or mod podge flattening into sharp creases and embellish to suit yourself. Mod Podge will need time to dry but is able to be used to add sprinklings of glitter etc while still wet.

Anyone who places an order for Stampin’ Up! supplies with me will receive a 10% discount on their total order excluding shipping. Just tell me you saw this on my blog. Orders must be received on or before 22 February 2008. Remember all orders placed in February for $120 or more also qualify for Sale-A-Bration sets.

Please contact me by
Email.

I am only able to sell to card makers currently resident in New Zealand. If you are resident in the UK please contact Rachel Booth.

Things Do Change For The Better Over Time

I decided to have a bit of a tidy up in the drawer where I keep the make and take packs I use for workshops. Some I won't use again so started to make them up into cards.

Here is the card made up as it was for the Make and Take at my very first workshop on the 25th August 2007.

Here are cards using the same card pieces but using other stamp sets that I've gained since then.

All supplies Stampin' Up! - Stamp Sets Friendship Blooms, Warmest Regards, Eat Cake, Birthday Whimsey, Pixie Pink, Whisper White, Green Galore Cardstock, Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip Ink Pads, Snail.

I realised after making the cards that all the stamp sets I'd chosen were either sale-a-bration sets, hostess sets(2) or stampin' start(1) sets. Being both a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and Customer has certainly helped me increase my stamp set collection with the free sets I've earnt.

And then since I was on a roll I made another card using a Make and Take pack from my second workshop on 5 September 2007. I don't have a photo of the original card tho.

Supplies all Stampin' Up! - Stamp Set Birthday Whimsey, Lovely Lilac, Pixie Pink, Whisper White Cardstock, Pixi Pink & Real Red Classic Ink Pads, Versamark Pad, Real Red 6mm Grosgrain Ribbon, Snail.

  1. Stampin' Start is a reward given to new demonstrators for reaching sales and recruiting targets in the first six months of their career.
  2. Hostess sets are earned by hosting a workshop with sales of at least $350.00 or placing a demonstrator or customer order of at least $350.00. The higher the amount of the workshop or order the better the benefits.

DCM: - Red and White

Today's Daring Cardmakers dare is using red and white in your card. Just perfect for Valentines. I've actually made a Thank You card. Again I find myself using a Stampin' Around wheel (scatter sunshine) to create the background. I've fallen in love with them. It's so easy to make fabulous backgrounds without having to go out and hunt for the perfect patterned paper. All Images (c) Stampin' Up! 1990-2008

All supplies Stampin' Up! - Whisper White, Real Red Cardstock, Real Red Classic Ink Pad, Red 6mm Grosgrain Ribbon, Terrific Tags Stamp Set, Scatter Sunshine Stampin' Around Wheel, Jumbo Handle, Snail, Stampin' Dimensionals.

January Cardmaking Challenge

In my January EMail newsletter I issued the first of my cardmaking challenges. "Please send me a card by Email or Snail Mail using at least one item of Stampin' Up! product and using the theme Summer."

All the cards are beautiful and each cardmaker deserves their little bit of fame so here they are for you to admire.

Thank you for joining in Sarah, Jacqui, Gillian, Judy, Alison, Donna, Jo and Vicky. Alison has another card in the draw but my computer doesn't want to believe that it is really saved in JPG format.

The winner by random draw was Gillian. I have sent you an EMail today so we can arrange the best way to get your voucher to you.

If you would like to be included in my monthly card making challenges join my mailing list using the box in the side bar. Prizes are only able to be sent to New Zealand addresses.
