DCM: - Golden Oldies

"NOW ! - on to this weeks dare - we have a team dare this week, and we were thinking.....with so many new things /latest papers/ trendy stuff constantly coming on the market, we thought it would be nice to have a look back, and dig out some of our 'old' papers and embellishments and make a card with our 'preloved' treasures. I think the tendency these days is to get on the 'latest must have' band wagon, sometimes, its nice to recognise what we already have- even if it isn't the 'latest' embellishment/paper.Here's a few lovely designs from our design team- a little trip down memory lane........of the card making world !Don't forget to leave us a link to your card, so we can pop along and have a look atyour wonderful creations !"

Those of you who have looked at my card and noticed the watermark will have noticed that I used Stampin' Up!® product. And if you know me well you know I've been cardmaking for about 10 years. You're right I didn't use my older stamping bits and pieces. I found there was no way that I couldn't use Stampin' Up!® products in my crafting, I am so completely and totally addicted. The sad thing is that even tho. I don't use my older stamp collection anymore I can't bear to part with those either.

My card this week uses the very first technique that I ever learnt as a cardmaker. Taught to me at a Crafty Kids party about 10 years ago. Like all cardmakers of the time I fell in love with heat embossing over a toaster. It's also been an incredibly long time since I've actually embossed a sentiment straight onto a base card.

So here's the card: - All Supplies Stampin' Up!® - Stamp Sets Oh So Lovely & Sincere Salutation, Very Vanilla and Perfect Plum Cardstock, Perfect Plum & Versamark Ink, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Cutter, 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds, snail adhesive.

Gift Card Holder

Aren't Dads incredibly hard to buy for. Mine is anyway and today's his birthday. Dad likes his books and is an avid reader so off to Whitcoulls yesterday for a gift card. Off to visit one of my favourite Web Sites, the one of Andrea Walford a Stampin' Up!® Demo in Cananda who has instructions for a fantastic gift card holder on her site Sunny Stampin'.

One small problem tho. it needed a word window punch and I didn't have one. I've used a craft knife and ruler instead sometimes but this one's for my Dad and I wanted it to be perfect. Luckily it was 'the INKspirables' team meeting last night so went along with my cardstock and was able to borrow the punch from my Upline Sharlene.

Anyway enough with the waffle here's the card outside and inside:

All supplies Stampin' Up!® - Stamp Set Circle of Friendship, Outlaw DSP, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Really Rust Cardstock, Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad, 1 1/4 Circle, 1 3/8 Circle and Scallop Circle and Word Window Punches, Snail, Paper Cutter & craft tool kit and craft knife

And Again

It was a last minute card this morning, started at about 9:30am for Cameron to get to the birthday party at 11:00am. Oh no, we've run out of iceblock sticks, the boys like to build things with them, so I packed the bits I needed to finish the card and glued the stick to the back in Woolworths carpark on the way to the party.

Here's one just the same I made later on: -

All supplies Stampin' Up! except the stick which was Woolworths: - Stamp Sets, Tart and Tangy and Eat Cake, Real Red and Whisper White Cardstock, Real Red and Old Olive Classic Ink Pads, 1 1/4" circle, 1 3/8" circle, scallop circle and corner rounder punches, craft tool kit, paper cutter, paper snips, snail, 6mm Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon.

The card was well received by a little five year old boy who loves anything red (especially Lightning McQueen, which is what we gave him for a present).

DCM Dare: - Cards With A Certain A-Peel (Off)

It was Lythan's turn to set the dare over on the Daring Cardmakers blog this week.

"You can blame Keryn with her rather lovely cool colours dare last week (great cards all BTW!) for the inspiration for this week. I found that I needed to use a peel off and was quite pleased with the results and that got me thinking of a fiendish dare. At least it is for me (Lythan) who is often disparaging of the much maligned shiny sticker. But actually there are some really nice examples of the genre around now. And also people who can do all sorts of gorgeous things with peel off stickers that I would not have thought of. Are you one of them?
So go on, rummage around in your craft stash and
Make a card with Peel Offs
If you really truly honestly don't have any peel offs in the house (and remember I know where you live and will be checking personally) then and only then, are you allowed to use another type of sticker in its place. Go on, I dare you!"

Here's my card: -

All supplies Stampin' Up!® unless noted: - Perfect Match Stamp Set, Taken with Teal, Sage Shadow and Whisper White Cardstock, Taken with Teal and Sage Shadow Classic Ink Pad, Brushed Metallic Cardstock, Snail, Paper Cutter, Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals.

BRRR.................FREEZING

It's my turn to set the Daring Cardmakers Dare this week.

In New Zealand at the moment it's winter and cold and dark. No snow here as temperatures don't get that low but still low enough that that's all anyone thinks about and anyone talks about. So this dare should be easy for those in the colder climes of the Southern Hemisphere but in the North it may be a little trickier. Use images, use colour, use embellishments that make you feel cold and remind you of winter. As always we love to see your cards so post them on your blog and leave us a comment so we can come over and admire them. If you don't have a blog EMail them to us to be placed in our gallery.

It was also my turn to choose the July Guest Designer and I've chosen the extremely talented Beverley. See her blog here.

Here's my card:

I dotted a bit of 2 way glue with dazzling diamonds in the centre of the background flowers which hasn't shown up well in the photo. It gives the card a more icy feel.
Supplies used are all Stampin' Up! - Boho Backgrounds Stamp Set, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Blue Bayou Cardstock, Blue Bayou Classic Ink Pad, 1 1/4 circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch and circle scallop punch, paper cutter, snail, 2 way glue, dazzling diamonds.

SALE!! - Dave's Turnings Limited - SALE!!

Craftworld was a fabulous place for Dave's Turnings to sell it's handturned pens in Porirua but with the move to Petone we were losing more than we sold. Dave brought the stand and all the stock home on Sunday.
So we have some pens, keyrings, letter openers and pen and pencil sets to get rid of. All beautifully turned on a wood turning lathe to the usual Dave's Turnings quality but taking up to much space in the workshop.

Here's the link to the Trade Me listings. More items will be listed daily.
