Colour Challenge No. 26

After requests from Donna and Hazel for more colour challenges I have again spun the Colour Coach and come up with the following colour challenge: -

Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom and Taken with Teal and a Neutral.

I'm not even going to attempt to make these a weekly occurence but hope to try for one a month.

I decided to double dare myself and make a Christmas card with these very non - traditional colours. I couldn't drag myself away from 'Tree Trimmings' which is becoming my favourite stamp set leading up to Christmas. I have cheated a little bit as the flower brads and jumbo brads that I've used are actually chocolate chip coloured not close to cocoa.

Supplies used All Stampin' Up!®:
Stamp Set - Tree Trimmings, Best Yet (Hostess Set)
Cardstock- Blush Blossom, Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa
Ink - Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa
Punches - Scallop Edge
Accessories - Paper Cutter, Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mat Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Paper Snips, Jumbo Brads, Flower Brads.

To play along create your card using the colours listed above or the closest you have in your collection, save to your blog or website and send me a comment with your link. If you don't have a website/blog attach your card to an EMail and I will display it here with the next weeks challenge. There is no deadline on these challenges please join in whenever you please.

Cardstock Share

If you would like to expand you cardstock collection, each week I will be offering a cardstock share consisting of 8 A4 sheets of each of the three colours listed above (does not include the neutral). There will be three places and I will contact you re payment, $13.10 plus postage if necessary, once all of the places have been filled. NZ residents only please.

Email me to reserve your place.

Gift Card Holders in a Hurry

My Sister and Brother In Law have their birthdays within a week of each other and like every year they went away for their birthdays. Great I thought I bit more time before I have to think of cards and presents. Of course I left it to the last minute, they've been back for over a week and I'm going to see my sister tomorrow.

Vouchers of course are perfect for this scenario but I only had half an hour to make the holders in between band practice, doing the dishes and getting to bed.

Here are the two gift card holders I made using a tutorial by Andrea Walford and the same colours for cardstock, dsp and ink for both, I changed the stamp set and the punches. I think I've managed to make one feminine and one masculine which was my goal.

What do you think?

Quick and Easy Christmas Card

As Christmas approaches I'm always on the look out for quick and easy cards to make that have a WOW factor for the recipient.

STAMPIN' AT THE BEACH!!!

Stamp Camp on the weekend was a blast!!!! Hard work for me and I was seriously brain tired by the end of it but basking in a warm glow from all the wonderful comments I've received afterwards. There's nothing better when running a big event especially for the first time when the guests want you to run it again next year.

Kelly and I designed and sourced four projects each giving the guests eight to do over the weekend leaving time to create their own projects and some time to socialise as well.

The picture below shows the four projects that I demonstrated. A couple of them are looking a bit squashed after being transported up to the beach house and back.

The Splitcoast Stampers resources section is a fantastic resource for sourcing ideas and instructions for bigger events. Thank you so much to the ladies who provided their tutorials.

DCM - Shabby Chic

Those of you who know me and those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that my style is just about as far away from Shabby Chic as you can get. This was a huge challenge by Tanya and I hope I've managed to do it justice.

To me Shabby Chic is soft, floral and distressed. This is what I came up with.

Ink - Basic Grey Classic Stampin' Pad
Punches - Five Petal Flower, Scallop Edge Punches

Holly Jolly Trees

Continuing with my Christmas theme I decided it was time to put ink on my new 'Holly Jolly Christmas' stamp set. I hadn't intended to choose this particular Christmas set for but Lachlan (9) helped me and this is the one we chose together.

I've known about the 'Rock and Roll' technique, inking your stamp set in one colour and running another ink pad around the edges, since I joined Stampin' Up!® two years ago. Shock horror this is the first card I've ever used it on and I really like how it turned out.

Supplies used all Stampin' Up!®: -

Stamp Set - Holly Jolly Christmas $56.95

Paper - Whisper White, Chocolate Chip & Kiwi Kiss Cardstock, Good Morning Sunshine DSP $19.95

Ink - Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pads, Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker

Punches - Scallop Oval and Wide Oval both $35.95

Accessories - Paper Trimmer, Stampin' Sponge, Snail Adhesive.

Photos from Wellington Field Training

I took my camera but left it in my bag for the whole night. Luckily Kelly had her's out clicking away. You tell who is the scrapbooker of the two of us can't you.

Here are the members of Keryn's Krew who made it to the Field Training:-

Left to right (Top): - Anita Kleinjan (Upper Hutt), Debs Kidson (Tawa), Kelly Nelson (Lower Hutt)

(Bottom): - Me, Megan Bennett (Wainuiomata), Barbara Hanlen (Lower Hutt)

and here is one of me demoing the Smackin' Acetate technique I showed the ladies for my Workshop WOW.

I didn't demonstrate full cards on the night but showed the ladies how to make the three different backgrounds I used and then showed them the finished cards.

Here are the cards that I showed on the night: -

After seeing me demo the Smackin' Acetate technique at a workshop Gillian came to my latest Craft at Keryn's session to make this card with a Father's Day message. Gillian very kindly let me borrow her design for my Workshop WOW demonstration.

Christmas Card Making

I must have been inspired by Hollie's 'Organising Your Business' section at Wellington's Field Training on Thursday. Yesterday afternoon I felt the need to find my craft desk under the bits and pieces that had been dumped on it after workshops and classes etc.

So after that I settled down in a clear space and put together the left over make and takes from my Anniversary workshop. Another ten Christmas cards down, a lot more to go.

This card is a CASE of one on page 21 of the 2009 Spring Mini Catalogue. A change of colours, embellishments and greeting stamp and here it is. I find the Stampin' Up!® Idea Book and Catalogue and Mini Catalogues to be a great source of inspiration. If you'd like to be sent a copy of the current Spring Mini contact me and send me your Snail Mail Address.

Swap Cards from Wellington Field Training

I had a great night out last night at the Stampin' Up!® Wellington Field Training. As always great presentations from the Stampin' Up!® team and Wellington demonstrators.

It was great to see so many of Keryn's Krew there. Thank you ladies, I was so proud to have the members of my team filling an entire table.

The swaps this year were of an excellent standard as I think you'll agree when you see the photo below. I only had ten swap cards made so I missed out on a lot of other lovely swaps. I'll post the second batch tomorrow.

Clockwise from top left these cards were made by Anita Kleinjan (Keryn's Krew), Lynette Couper, Lisa Beck, Toni Stoker & Debs Kidson (Keryn's Krew).

Father's Day Card

This card for my Dad turned into a 'I can cardmake anywhere, anytime, anywhere' when I got a call from Mum on Saturday morning to say we won't be home on Sunday as I was just leaving the house to visit Dave's Mum and Dad on Saturday. So the gear went with me and I made this card on my knee on a cutting mat.

The photo isn't great as it was the first one to be taken with Dave's brand new mobile phone. He'd only got it on Friday.

Thank you to Splicoast stampers for having printable instructions for this card type which meant they travelled with me as well.

Boomerang Box

I made this gift box and filled it with Roses chocolates as part of my Dad's birthday present at the end of July. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of it before it was delivered the very same day.

A couple of days ago Mum's been having a clear out and brought it back to me to use as a sample. It's showing a little bit of wear and tear but I think it's held up really well.

I made this box following a tutorial and I've had a search but I can't locate the website that I found it on. If it's your's please let me know so I can add your link to this post.
