Christmas Crackers after Christmas Dinner

Here they are all beautifully made with pretty papers and beautiful ribbons, snaps, hats, jokes and gifts included.

And here they all are just after Christmas Dinner, Ben 10 toys being played with, scratchies scratched and one was even a winner and everyone wearing silly hats and groaning at the not so funny jokes.

Doesn't it just show that papercrafters make their creations for the love of the craft and the joy they bring to others because otherwise it would be impossible to craft something that would end up like this.

Once I'm back home I'll do some photo editing.

Video - Stampin' Up!® Basics No. 2

Number two in this series is how to repair Classic Stampin' Pads when a bit of brute force has left them in two pieces.  Usually it's never the owner of the ink pad that causes this damage.

Luckily there is a quick and easy fix.

See the video below.

I hope you found my video useful. Stay with me in future weeks for more videos in my basics series.

Christmas Gift - Circle Scissors Plus

Here's a photo of my Christmas present from the family.  The circle scissors plus with glass mat and dotto.  With the cardstock I packed it was everything I needed to cut circles as soon as I unpacked it.

So much fun and easy to use.  As soon as I get home from holiday and into my craft room I can show you projects made using my Circle Scissors Plus.

The circle scissors plus and glass mat are featured in the current Summer Mini Catalogue.  Check it out and then EMail me to place your order.

P.S - once I get home I'll also have a photo editor and will sort out the photo.

More Christmas Cards

Here's another selection of the beautiful artwork that I keep receiving for this Christmas.

The first one was made at school by my six year old Cameron.

This one was created by my special friend and cardmaker Cathryn.

Another fabulous piece of inspiration from my Stampin' Up!® team leader Sharlene Meyer.

This card from my Team Member Debs opens out in the centre where the triangles join.  Another fancy folds card that needs to be tried out in the New Year.

This card was especially hand delivered by Petra.  One of the special things about it was that it contained a Christmas photo of her four gorgeous children.

Arrived yesterday having travelled from Churton Park to Masterton and back to Tawa, from Gillian.  Tawa and Churton Park are about a five minute drive apart.

Thank you to Lynda from the Daring Cardmakers Design team for a card all the way from the U.K.

Anymore cards that arrive, I'll upload for you when I return from holiday on the 1st January 2010.

My Christmas Cards Part 1

I've been so lucky to receive some beautiful works of art in my letterbox and hand delivered this year.

Here's a selection: -

From my team member Barbara, using 'Solemn Stillness' a set that never made it off my wishlist before it retired.

From my special friend Vicky who has joined my in my love of cardmaking.

From my friend Donna who's making great use of the 'Best Yet' hostess set.

Karen had told me about the kittens she's kitten sitting and my Christmas card this year was of one up in her Christmas tree.

From Sue one of the talented members of the Daring Cardmakers design team.

The folds Julie's used in her card are definitely some that I will have to try.  It's one of those cards that you can waste a lot of time with opening and closing.

More tomorrow.

On my mantlepiece before Stampin' Up!® arrived in my world there might have two or three handmade cards among the collection but now there is only two or three bought ones.

Paper Clip Bookmark

This is an idea that I saw over a year ago or more but I've had trouble sourcing large enough  paper clips.  Finally a week ago I found the perfect one at 'Smiggle'.

Ink - Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pads

Video - Stampin' Up!® Basics No. 1

I've joined the ranks of Stampin' Up!® demonstrators with a You Tube Channel.  The plan is to film a series of videos looking at the Stampin' Up!® basics.  The things that as a demonstrator come second nature but can be a little confusing when you're handed your first order about two weeks after the workshop.

Number one in this series is how to open and close Classic Stampin' Pads.

I hope you found my video useful.  Stay with me in future weeks for more videos in my basics series.

Thanks to my DH Dave for holding the camera for me this week.  He's off to buy me a tripod for future videos.

Cameron's Christmas Cards

Some six years olds are luckier than others when they tell their Mum at 4:00pm on the day before school ends for the year "I want Christmas cards for all the kids in my class, Mum".

Some lucky kids have a Mum who:
- loves cardmaking and has lots & lots of cardstock on hand.
- as an Stampin' Up!® demonstrator has the tools and the knowledge to make the job quicker
- and luckily for this Mum, has a six year old that stayed the distance helping for all of the two hours it took to make them except when he was tidying his room.

The 25 cards in the photo are 3x3" or 4x4" in size and were stamped and cut by me with the assembling, punching and writing done by Cameron.  Only 12
more years until he can sign up as part of my team.

Most of the supplies Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp set: - Fun and Fast Notes
Paper: - Whisper White, Yoyo Yellow and Tempting Turquoise A4 Cardstock
Ink: - Tempting Turquoise Classic Stampin' Pad
Punches: - From Cameron's Collection
Accessories: - Paper Cutter, Snail, Glue Stick

It's Vanessa's turn to set the dare over on the Daring Cardmakers Blog this week.  She's sick of Christmas cards and she's sick of the cold so she wants us to make cards using warm colours and Polka Dots to celebrate anything but Christmas.

I went through my Stampin' Up!® paper collection in search of Polka Dots.  Most collections have at least one Polka Dot pattern, some more than one.  The collections I found my warm Polka Dot patterns in were 'Bella Rose' and 'Sweet Always'.

Stamp Set - Occasional Greetings

Ink - Chocolate Chip & Regal Rose Classic Stampin' Pads

How To Set Grommets!

I've just received some more of the new product in the 2009/2010 Summer Mini Catalogue.  Two of those products were the small and large grommets which I'd never used before.  Like me you may be wondering how to use these new embellishments, so I've put together a quick tutorial of the basics.

The only tools you need are a bone folder and a 1/2" circle punch.  I used the large grommets for this tutorial.

Push the prongs on the back of the grommet through your cardstock.

Turn the card over and use the side of your bone folder to flatten the prongs.

(Note I used a Stampin' Up!® bone folder, made from bone, to do this.  I have not tried with the cheaper plastic variety)

To leave a hole in the centre.

Use a 1/2" circle punch to punch a hole in your cardstock.

Push grommet through the hole and finish by flattening the prongs on the back with your bone folder as before.

Here's the first card I've made using the Jumbo Grommets.  I think I'm going to be hooked.

I set the Grommet through the paper layer and have used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the paper to the card.  I found it easier to work with the ribbon and the paper if I punched a 1/2" hole in the paper to start off with.

If Grommets sound like something you'd like to have a play with contact me to place your order.  Also send me an EMail if you'd like me to send you a copy of the Summer Mini Catalogue.
