DCM - Getting Punchy With It

It was my turn this week to set the Daring Cardmakers Dare.  You may have noticed that most of my cards use punches somewhere on them.  Because of this I have challenged the Daring Cardmakers design team and the contributors to use not just any punch on their card but their latest punch purchase.

Pop over to the Daring Cardmakers Blog to see the cards made by the design team and to leave us a comment to let us know where to go to see your dare entry.

Here's my card using my newest and already very well used Stampin' Up!® Eyelet Border Punch.  I punched the front bottom edge of my card with the punch and stuck a piece of Pink Pirouette card to the inside of the card to show through the gap.  I have shown the card standing and lying flat so you can see the eyelet edging both ways.

All supplies used Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp Set - Petal Pizzazz, Polka Dot
Card - Ruby Red and Pink Pirouette Cardstock
Ink - Ruby Red Classic Ink Pad, Versamark
Punch - Eyelet Border
Accessories - Heat and Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Heat Tool, Paper Cutter, Pop Up Glue Dots, Snail, Paper Snips, Stampin' Sponge

Mini Magazine Holder and Gift Cards

I'm using the same Designer Series Paper today that I used to make the Christmas Crackers yesterday.  While you can get 24 Crackers out of a pack of Designer Series Paper we don't always have that many guests at our Christmas dinner table. It's nice to have another project to use some of the left over paper.

This magazine holder and gift card project is another of the projects that my downline Kelly Nelson put together for our Stampin' At the Beach Stamp Camp in September.

The original idea came from this post on Becky Roberts blog.

All Supplies Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp Set - Say it with Scallops - 115862 - $37.95
Paper - Haiku DSP, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, More Mustard & Really Rust Cardstock
Ink - Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pads
Punch - Scallop Square
Accessories - Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip, Snail Adhesive.

Christmas Crackers

Lynette Couper created the perfect cracker template for Christmas 2007 and I have yet to find an easier one to put together.  Every year I bring it out to make my Christmas crackers.  The best thing about this template is that it doesn't need a cardboard tube in the centre.

I've started on my crackers for 2009.  Perfect for the table and to hide small gifts inside for Christmas Morning.  One pack of Stampin' Up!® designer series paper wil make 24 Crackers.  I've used 'Haiku' for today's crackers.

All supplies Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp Set - Best Yet (Level One Hostess Set)
Paper - Haiku DSP, Very Vanilla, Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie Cardstock

Ink - Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pads
Punch - Large Tag Punch
Accessories - Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade, Paper Snips, Very Vanilla & Certainly Celery 6mm Grosgrain Ribbon, Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Crop A Dile, Sticky Strip.

Pop over to the Catalogues page in my Stampin' Up!® website to see which designer series paper pack in the Idea Book and Catalogue or the 2009 Spring Mini Catalogue will be the one you make your crackers with this year.

Shimmer Paint NZ Style

Dave took Lachy out to Bunnings late yesterday afternoon, Cameron was in the bath and I had a chance to catch up with the Posts from Andrea Walford's Sunny Stampin' Website that were sitting unread on Google Reader.

A number of her video tutorials have been using the Stampin' Up!® Shimmer Paint that is available in the US and Canada. I considered just flicking through them and then had a brain wave.  There must be a way to have acrylic paint in Stampin' Up!® colours!  By hunting through my pre Stampin' Up!® stash I found some White acrylic paint and a shimmery artists medium.  Mixing them together I had something that I thought would work the way the paint has done in Andrea's Video Tutorial

Here's my card: -

As long as the acrylic paint is reasonably thin you still get the detail on the solid trees.  Unfortunately I couldn't get the shimmer to show well in the photo.

I know for a long time the scrapping world has been using acrylic paint on foam stamps in their layouts. This is a fantastic way for scrapbookers to get their acrylic paint to match the Stampin' Up!® colours used in their papers, cardstock and simply scrappin' kits and be able to use their Stampin' Up!® stamp sets as well.

Supplies used all Stampin' Up!® except were mentioned: -
Stamp Set - Holly Jolly Christmas
Paper - Old Olive, Ruby Red and Whisper White Cardstock
Ink - Ruby Red and Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pads
Accessories - Paper Cutter, Sponge Daubers, 'Acrylic Paint and Artists Medium' - Non SU, Stampin' Sponge, Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive.

Contact me to purchase ink refills to match your favourite Stampin' Up!® cardstock and papers and a pack of Sponge Daubers to apply the paint to your stamps with.

Jumbo Wheels Make Quick and Easy Cards

We've been invited to a shared lunch to celebrate Nathan's 1st Birthday today.  Jumbo Stampin' Around Wheels are always a quick and easy way to make a birthday card.  I've used 'Matey's Map' Jumbo Wheel for Nathan's card. Unfortunately this wheel is now retired but a favourite with many crafters and a good alternative is 'Classic Stars'.

I use the alphabet stamp set 'Big Deal' a lot to add personal touches to cards in the form of names and monograms.

I also named the gift bag I used for the gift I gave to Nathan's Mum when he was born. I like the idea of carrying through the use of his name in the same font to his first Birthday card.

You Too Can Make Quick and Easy Cards with Jumbo Wheels

To start on you on your way with the Jumbo Stampin' Around wheels click here to see the available jumbo wheels on page 158 of the current Idea Book and Catalogue.

Add to it a Jumbo Handle from Pg 157 and a Jumbo Ink Cartridge from pgs 128 to 129 then contact me to place your order.

Spring Mini Case

In Mid September Kelly and I ran a weekend stamp camp.  For one of the projects we gave the ladies the necessary ingredients to CASE the layout on page 4 of the 2009 Spring Mini Catalogue.  This was a great way to remind them that the projects in both the Idea Book and Catalogue and the Mini Catalogues are a great place to get ideas for new colour combinations, layouts or to copy completely.

Never being one to waste a left over kit I decided that the Baja Breeze colour scheme would be perfect for this photo of my youngest son Cameron when he was 3 months old.  Journalling to be completed later now the photo has been taken.

Cameron popped into my office just as I was finishing the layout and I asked him who the baby was.  He answered with all the names of his younger cousins until finally he decided it was him.

Accessories - Paper Cutter, Baja Breeze 1" Double Stitched Ribbon, 6mm Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Filigree Flower Brads, Mat Pack, Paper Snips, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals

Season of Joy Folding Card

While creating this card I realised that I had gained the inspiration for it from three different ladies who love Stampin' Up!®.

- The first was Julie a Stampin' Up!® demonstrator that I share a team with who showed me how to do the folds for this card.
- The second is LeAnne Pugliese whose card I found in the Splitcoast Gallery and CASEd for the front of my card.
- The third is my good friend Jackie who lent me her Season of Joy stamp set just because she knew I didn't have it.

You too could find a group of people to share ideas with by becoming a Stampin' Up!® demonstrator.  Check out the latest starter kit special here.

I've Taken Up A Challenge...

... and I want my blog readers to help keep me on track.

Every day from today the 19th October to 19 November 2009 I am going to post to this blog.

I want you to keep checking in to help keep me on track with my challenge.

To start off the challenge I will be sharing with a you a quick and easy DSP bow that is perfect for using up spare 6x12 sheets of patterned paper.

This bow is made using only one 6" x 12" sheet of double sided patterned paper, three brads and three pop up glue dots.

I found the instructions to make it here in the Splitcoaststampers resources section.

I used Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series Paper and if I had used the whole pack I would have 24 bows for decorating presents, the Christmas table or the tree.

To gain all the supplies to make 24 of these bows buy the following kit: -
 - Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series Paper - 19.95
 - 200 Silver Mini Brads - 15.95
 - 75 Pop Up Glue Dots - 8.95
 - 5 % Shipping - 2.24
Total to Pay $47.09

That's only $1.96 per bow which is much cheaper than a shop bought version plus you will have brads and pop up glue dots available for more projects.

Email me to place your order.

If you wish to change your order to any other $19.95 priced paper packs in the 2009-2010 Stampin' Up!® Idea Book and Catalogue or Spring Mini Catalogue please let me know your selection.

Turn your Wish List into a Christmas List

I'd like to introduce my Christmas gift buying service.

This is a great way to make a dent in your wishlist of Stampin' Up!® products particularly those with a slightly larger price tag.

How it works: -

Email me a list of Stampin' Up!® product in various price ranges that you would like to see under the tree on Christmas day.  Then all you have to do is give anyone who usually buys you presents my EMail Address - keryn.campbell@xtra.co.nz and I will help them choose something that you want for Christmas.

Also don't forget my gift voucher service.  I can make up a gift voucher for any amount you choose.  These are a great way to give a little thank you to a fellow papercrafter or a way to accumulate stampin' dollars from a number of sources for yourself.

Always the best value gift in the Stampin' Up!® range is the demonstrator starter kit, especially with the extra product coming with the 'Breast Cancer Awareness month special' running until 31st December.  Get a wonderful kit of craft supplies and tools or even a new business for Christmas.

All gift vouchers come packaged in a handcrafted wallet with attached gift card.

EMail me now to send me your Christmas wishlist or purchase gift vouchers.

Ceramic tiles and rub ons are something quite different for this seasoned cardmaker.  I've leapt right out of my comfort zone while trialing projects for my Christmas Giftables class in November.

This is from a tutorial provided by Stampin' Up!® in their September 'Impressions' magazine.  Full of great ideas for demonstrators.

Totally Tools Finally Sees Ink

Male cards are always the hardest to make so I grabbed the 'Totally Tools' stamp set as soon as I saw it in the new Idea Book. It turned out that it wasn't a lack of stamps that was the problem but a lack of ideas on my part. Spurred on by a workshop hostess that wants to see a male card demonstrated I've put together this card.

All supplies Stampin' Up!® -

Stamp Set - Totally Tools

Paper - Very Vanilla & Not Quite Navy Cardstock

Ink - Old Olive Classic Ink Pad, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Markers
