I Love Being A Stampin' Up!® Demo - WHY?

Everybody should have a passion in their life and being a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator is mine.

This is Why!!!

 - I adore cardmaking and papercraft in general.  What better than a job where you teach people to do the things that you love.

 - The job pays for my passion and because the Stampin' Up!® product is such good quality I have no need to buy from any other source.

 - Stampin' Up!® provides great bonuses and freebies to it's demonstrators so that it's easy to reach goals.

 - I get to be at home when my boys come home from school and I'm able to arrange my work committments around school activities and their after school activities.

 - BUT best of all for me as a Work at Home Mum I get to go out and meet up with like minded passionate papercrafters like myself, whether they be my customers, my team (Keryn's Krew) or other Stampin' Up!® demonstrators just like me.

To find out how to a have a job like mine as a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator give me call 04 2325815 or click here to for more information.

DCM - Schooldays

On Tuesday my two boys with lots of other New Zealand children will be returning to school for the new year.  This is what has inspired the theme for my dare for the Daring Cardmakers Team this week.

Use your children's school routine or your memories of your own school days for the inspiration to make your card.  Then leave a comment with a link on the Daring Cardmakers blog so we can pop over and admire your creation.

My card evolved into what I think is a medallion or gold medal to the Mums and Dads who have survived/enjoyed the holidays with their kids.  I am going to miss them when they return to school for a little while at least.

The Tool I Can't Live Without

I'd pushed myself before I went away to create enough blog posts for every day I was away, however with the washing, getting the kids ready to go back to school etc the current one's have been hard work.

I'm so pleased I'd already joined the 'Business Stampers Coaching Group' and John was ready with a blog writing assignment to help me out.  'The Tool I Can't Live Without'

I've realised the the tool I can't live without, at the moment, doesn't seem particularly exciting, doesn't cost much but is the one that finishes my projects beautifully - The Stampin' Sponge.

I particularly like to use my sponges to colour the edges of neutral cardstock before they are added to a coloured layer.  This is an example of a card using sponges to colour edges.

and here's what the background looked like before sponging.

I have filmed a video showing three different way of colouring the edges of your cardstock, two using Stampin' Sponges.  I'm waiting for the video to upload to You Tube and will give you the link for it tomorrow.

Contact me if you'd like to purchase Stampin' Sponges (3 for $7.75) to add some extra finish to your papercraft projects.

They may be just the little extra you need to round your order up to $120 to achieve a free Sale A Bration stamp set.

3 Things They Won't Teach You At Spotlight

 - How to choose the correct ink type for your project.
 - Which other products you need to make the one you just bought work correctly.
 - How to get into a business just like their's.

I went into my local Spotlight Store today and noticed they no longer have any specialist staff stationed by the craft area at all.

When you're new to a craft or when new products arrive on the market every 5 seconds, it seems, walking into a large craft store, even when the products are all lined up in racks, can be as confusing as the jumble below:

One of the reasons you want to work with Stampin' Up!® to supply the quality product for your heirloom scrapbook projects and special occassion cards is me.  You can contact me by EMail, Phone, Text or even send a card to get answers to your crafting questions.  Get new project ideas and find out about the latest promotions in my Newsletters, on my Facebook page, Twitter and Stampin' Up!® Website.  To sign up for my Newsletter enter your EMail address into the box in my sidebar.

I can even bring the store to you with workshops and classes in your home.

To find out how to have a business just like mine where you can share your passion for papercrafting with your community click here for more details and then visit with me at my Stampin' Up!® Opportunity Night, details here.

Stampin' Up!® Basics Video No. 5 - Circle Scissors Plus

A lot of the videos showing how to use the Circle Scissors Plus focus on cutting circles from Stampin' Up!® cardstock.  Two of my customers, Cathryn & Elsie asked if it would cut photos and heavier weight cardstock.  Here's my video showing you that it can.

Excuse the abrupt end to my video.  My camera ran out of memory and as everything had gone according to plan up until then I decided it was time to finish.  All you missed was me saying I'd also had success cutting circles from DSP backing cardboard and cereal boxes.

Good Friend in Patchwork

I didn't need to make a card for a good friend today. I didn't need to make a card for anybody but I saw a patchwork card made by Andrea Walford and thought what a great way to use up paper scraps.  The scraps that were at the top of my pile were from the 'Good Morning Sunshine' DSP pack and the Good Friend stamp set matches that paper pack.

 - Paper - Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Bashful Blue and Whisper White Cardstock
 - Ink - Pacific Point Classic Stampin' Pad
 - Punches - 1/2" Circle, Wide Oval

"This week I (Lythan) hope you will enjoy the challenge just as much.

Punch Art Spaceships Made by Lachlan

My boys know they are allowed to craft in my office as long as they only use craft supplies without a Stampin' Up!® logo on it.

This morning Lachlan asked if he could use my oval and circle punches and has created these spaceships.  One for the good guys and one for the aliens.  He created the aliens face using the large flower from the boho blossoms punch.

All consumables used were from my pre Stampin' Up!® stash.
Stampin' Up!® punches used: - wide oval, 1 1/4" Circle, boho blossoms, crop a dile.

N.B. - my next Stampin' Up!® basics will be filmed tonight to be ready for you tomorrow.  With Dave going back to work today I am running on a slightly skewed school holiday timetable.

Valentines Day - Explosion Box

I made this box in response to a Challenge on the Splitcoast Stampers Forum.  Here the link for the instructions.

This would be great with a few little chocolates or other goodies in it which when exploded out of the box or eaten would reveal a personal note/message at the bottom.

My box closed:

and after opening:

I found when using the instructions that I needed to make the box lid from a 4 1/2" square piece of cardstock rather than the 4 1/4" in the instructions.

All supplies Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp Sets - Butterfly Prints, Scatter Sunshine Jumbo Wheel
Paper: - Almost Amethyst, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White Perfect Plum Cardstock
Ink - Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink Pads
Punches - Butterfly Punch
Accessories: - Stampin' Sponge, Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade

January's Birthstone is ....

Garnet.  This week is the first in a series of montly dares from the Daring Cardmakers Team.

Using the colour Rose Red, which I think is the one closest to Garnet in the Stampin' Up!® colour range, this is the card I made using Butterfly Prints and Occassional Greetings Stamp Sets.

Pop over to the Daring Cardmakers blog to see the other cards made by the Design Team.

CUTE!

In a quieter moment yesterday I found time to catch up on my filing.  Mixed up with the paperwork was this gorgeous photo of my niece.  I'd seen a 6x6 layout on the Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator website that had a sketch that I thought would be perfect to use.  As often happens this layout retains a few of the bits of the original but as with all photos it wanted to go it's own way.

Supplies all Stampin' Up!®: -
Stamp Sets - Big Deal, Animal Stories
Paper - Night of Navy and Whisper White Cardstock
Ink - Night of Navy, Rose Red & So Saffron Classic Ink, Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker
Accessories - Rose Red 1" Grosgrain Ribbon.
