Day Five - Changing Background Colours Changes the Look of the Photo

To celebrate International Scrapbooking Month I'm going to have a scrapbooking week. I started on Monday posting a post every day for 7 days to show you different ways I've found to use Stamps and Ink, along with patterned papers, punches and of course photos on my scrapbook layouts.

I have a Clear Mounted 'Lots of Bots' stamp set to give away to one person (No Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators please) who leaves a comment on all seven posts this week. I will be doing the draw on Tuesday 25th May.

Being an S.U. demonstrator when I find a good photo to scrapbook it sometimes gets used in a layout more than once.  This is the case with one of the professional photos I had taken when Cameron was only three months old.

This page was the first one that I completed using 2008/2009 In Colours Wild Wasabi, River Rock and Blue Bayou.  I'm very excited that Wild Wasabi will be returning as a Core Colour along with River Rock in the 1st September Colour Renovation.  The backgrounds also stamped in Wild Wasabi is from the 'Sprinkles' stamp set and the greeting from 'Heartfelt Thanks'.

This one is a later layout, still waiting for it's journalling, using paper from the 'Good Morning Sunshine' designer series paper pack, matting on the photo and bashful blue taffeta ribbon.

Both layouts use completely different colours and products and I don't know that I could really pick a favourite but I think they show how changing colours and matting can change the look of the photo.

Obviously when some colours come back as Core Colours some must retire.  Make sure to check the retiring colours and make sure you've ordered cardstock and ink refills etc of your favourites well ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post and the other six this week to enter yourself in the draw.

yes there definitely is a big difference,I never scrap the same photo over again so I don't really notice it so much.

wow, Keryn - that's such an amazing difference - what a great idea to show it on here - I'd never have thought the two backgrounds would be quite so dramatically different

Don't think I could pick a favourite one either Keryn. They look so different with different papers and colours.
