Christmas Card Wednesday - Color Me Christmas Quick & Easy

I had a lovely Craft At Keryn's this morning mostly chatting with my ladies.  Right at the end Linda had stamped the present from the Color me Christmas stamp set along the bottom of a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Real Red ink.  The images really jumped off the page at me and I knew they'd make a very simple but fun Christmas Card.

These are the cards that Linda and I designed to put together later.  It will be interesting to see if what Linda saw in her head is what I saw in mine.

This is how I lined my presents up using my clear mount stamp set.  It would work the same way with a wood mount stamp set and of course for absolutely perfect placement you would use a Stamp a Ma Jig.

I placed my clear mount present stamp in the centre of a C sized clear block.  Lining the bottom left corner of the block with the bottom left corner of the cardstock I stamped my first impression in Real Red classic ink.  I followed that by lining the left hand side of the block with the edge of the image just stamped and the bottom of the block with the bottom edge of the cardstock to stamp the second and third images.

I've added a selection of Brights Candy Dots and Rhinestone Jewels to embellish my cards.  You could use whatever you have to hand.

Christmas Card Wedneday - Ornament Keepsakes Shaker Frame

A couple of weeks ago we had a great time making shaker cards at Stamp Club.  Because of time pressure and a potential shortage of Shaker frame components we didn't make our samples.  I've put together some samples for my club member's books using the 'Ornament Keepsakes' stamp set and matching 'Holiday Ornaments' Framelits.

The shaker frames foam tape circles that Stampin' Up!® sells are perfectly sized to match the circle punches.  I used a 1 3/8" circle for these samples.

I used a 1" circle punch for today's card.  I added some Stampin' Dimensionals around the edges of the ornament to fill in the gaps left by the smaller circle.  I found that I couldn't cut 'Window Sheet' with my circle punches so cut them the same size as the ornaments with the framelit dies.

Christmas Card Wednesday - Quick and Easy Tag It

Today I really needed to make a Quick & Easy Christmas Card for you.  Who knew that having a kitchen installed took up so much time when someone else was using the tools.

The quick and easiest cards are those where you can  stamp an image and cut it out with a matching set of framelits.  

I stamped the Santa Image twice using Stazon Jet Black ink and a Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad and left the Black one complete cutting it out with the Chalk Tag framelits.  For the red one I trimmed around the inside of the frame with my paper trimmer and stuck it back over the black image after sponging round the edge with matching ink.

The Tag It stamp set has images for all occasions and they  match the 'Chalk Talk' framelits.  One of the best things about the Tag It stamp is $3.00 from every set purchased is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Looking for a quick & easy Christmas card?  I needed one this morning.

On a very wet and windy Wellington morning I let the boys sleep in so I had time to put together a card for this post.  I hate leaving my posts until the last minute but it seems to be the way during the School Holidays.

I'm really enjoying this single Christmas stamp 'Magical Season'.  It's large enough to be the focal point of the card and without a defined shape can be cut using a lot of different shaped punches and framelits.  I've used the Labels Collection framelits today.

I have to admit to opening a new pack of 'Season of Style' designer series paper and cutting 12x12 pages into 1/2" strips to make today's card.  Ideally though it would be a perfect card to use up scraps of designer series paper.

Christmas Card Wednesday - Shaped Card

Want to do something a little less square for all or some of your Christmas cards this year?

How about a card with a scallop oval border?  You could use any of the nesting framelits, last year I used the labels collection framelits, maybe next year it will be the floral frames.

This is another great card that change the colours and/or the greeting and it can be a thank you, birthday, just for you, wedding, any sort of card.

While this first one took a bit of time to put together with quite a few discarded ovals littering my craft room floor, it's going to be a very quick & easy card to duplicate and make a few of.

When you're cutting the base card use a normal folded card base, this one is a folded A5.  Place the framelit so that a small amount is over the folded edge.  This will mean that when the card is cut that small piece will still hold your card together.

The whisper white layers were cut and then embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Impression Embossing Folder.  Always cut first and emboss second so you don't crush the embossing.

Occasions Card Wednesday - Gold Bow Christmas Card

Into September my sights are firmly placed on Christmas, gifts, decorations, packaging and of course cards.

The one I've made today, after receiving my Bigz L Bow Die yesterday is definitely not one to be stuffed in an envelope but it might just be the perfect card to put with a box of chocolates or any gift for a teacher, neighbour, friend etc, etc.

The bow has been cut from both Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the new Gold Foil Sheets that can be found in the Holiday Catalogue.  The description foil made it sound very thin but it is of a nice card weight that works well with both the Big Shot Dies and punches.

 
For a different look to the bows these are the ones I put together last night using Smokey Slate and Coastal Cabana Cardstock teamed with the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack.  The 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stack papers are not large enough to cut the centre of the bow but cutting them in half meant they worked well for the accent pieces.

Occasions Card Wednesday - Christmas Cards using my Favourite Designer Series Papers

Just because a pack of Designer Series Paper doesn't have Christmas in it's name doesn't mean that it won't work really well in a Christmas Card.  

I have two favourite Designer Series Paper packs - Polka Dot Parade & Modern Medley - because they can be used for just about any type of card.

With Real Red and Old Olive Polka Dots and a Real Red Ornament from Ornament Keepsakes and the matching Holiday Ornaments Collection framelits.

The same design, a favourite of mine, using Rich Razzleberry and Marina Mist polka dots.  The 3.5cm squares are sitting between scored lines created using the Simply Scored.  So easy to mass produce using the place markers.

This time using Modern Medley with Basic Black on a Very Vanilla background.  Even though the 3.5cm square punch is no longer available I find it easy to cut squares that size with the Stampin' Trimmer or any accurate paper trimmer.

Of the three cards my favourite is the Rich Razzleberry and Marina Mist card.  I'd love you to leave a comment and let me know which one you like best.

My First Christmas Card
