Daring Card Makers - Hot

It's my turn to set the Dare this week. I want you to create cards that make me feel warm. Use only yellow based warm colours. Red, orange, yellow would be great start. Think of sunflowers and buckets and spades.

As always my own dare is always the hardest for me to do. While making the card I realised I don't really like yellow based colours. I prefer crafting with blue based colours.

Anyway here's the card. My inspiration came from a visions of a large yellow sun. Thanks Kelly for helping my thought process on this one.

DCM - Take Five

Here is my last minute card for the Daring Card Makers dare which went live at 10pm tonight. The team this week has dared us to use five of something on our card. You can see my five mini brads in top right hand corner. I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do at 4pm this afternoon until I looked at the monday demo challenge set by Cavalle on Splitcoast Stampers. Here is a link to the smackin' acetate technique that was to be used in that challenge.

DCM - Wet Wet Wet

This week Kathy has challenged us to make cards using the theme of water, double points if we use water in the making of the card. I went for the double points this week by sponging three dye ink colours on whisper white gloss card stock, spritzing it with water to make it run and covering it with glad wrap then scrunching up the wrap to give it frost lines.

I wasn't intending to make a sympathy card. As at Thursday morning I didn't know what sort of card it was going to be until after I had read about the loss of Sarah's Grandma on her blog. I must admit I still didn't make a conscious decision to make a sympathy card for Sarah but when the card started to be made this is what it wanted to be. Look out for it in your letterbox soon Sarah. Substitute butterfly cakes for the pikelets and Sarah's Grandma sounds an awful lot like my Nana who is also no longer with us.

DCM - Feeling Fruity

Guess What? It's my turn this week to set the dare on the Daring Cardmakers blog. I want you to make a card that includes a piece of fruit on it somewhere.

I decided on this dare to express my delight at Stampin' Up!® including the Tart and Tangy stamp set in it's new Idea Book and Catalogue along with individual markers which are great for stamping the images. However I went and did something completely different. I used half an apple to create the background stamped in 'Kiwi Kiss' ink to create a background for my card.

Here it is: -

DCM - Bunnies & Chicks

It's Jo's turn to set the dare for us this week.

With Easter nearly here - doesn't time fly! I thought that I would choose a dare this week to incorporate this...

I would like this week to see cards with a chick, a bunny or both!

Of course you may add anything else to your cards - have a good week and I can't wait to see your cards!

As you can see from my last two posts I'm really enjoying making hinged cards. See my Challenge No. 13 post below to get a link to a hinged card video tutorial by Dawn Griffiths.

DCM - Cos I'm a Woman

"Seeing as this weekend is Mothers Day in the UK, and I am doing the 600 mile round trip home to see my mummy, I want the focus of your cards to be the girls. It can be any style, any theme, and any recipient - as long as she is female."

I couldn't resist using the new stamp set I got yesterday. 'Greeting Eight' is one of the stamp sets making it's debue in the new 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalogue on the 1st April.

DCM - Ready, Steady, Cook

It's Kathy's dare this week and she has given us a recipe to use as follows: -

Here are your ingredients:

3 different papers
At least one piece of chipboard
At least 1 button
At least 1 piece of ribbon
optional: 1 extra item/element of your choice
You can use as much ink/adhesive etc as you like.

The other design team members got little packets from Kathy and were only able to use what she had sent. I was a bit luckier and mine didn't make it on time from the UK so I could choose what I wanted. She did however send me a template for the faux chipboard flower that I used.

Here's mine: -

All Supplies Stampin' Up!®: -

Stamps - Good Friend (will be available from 1/4/09)

Papers - Groovy Guava cardstock (R), Afternoon Tea DSP, Card Found in DSP packets for faux chipboard.

Ink - Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad

Punches - Word Window

Accessories - Paper Cutter, Paper Snips, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Earth Elements and Neutrals Buttons (R), Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon (R), Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

Items with an (R) after them are on the current retired list and are only available until they sell out or the 31/3/09 whichever comes sooner.

With the retirement list out I was out of SU buttons and I didn't want to buy anymore until the new Idea Book and Catalogue came out. The ones I've used have been begged and borrowed from Master 8 who asked me to buy them for him with his pocket money from the retirement list.

DCM - Patchwork

It's Jane's turn to set the dare this work and she wants us to make a card in the theme of Patchwork.

When I made the 'Bye Bye Bodacious' card on the weekend I had this lovely reinker ink pad and so it didn't go to waste I stamped a lot more images of the large flower. These were sitting on my desk when I started this card and set the colour scheme etc for this card.

DCM - Circles

Vanessa challenged us weeks ago to create a card using the theme of circles. I of course left it to the very last minute, yesterday, the day I had two Craft at Keryn's sessions and had to take Lachy to Gymnastics. So in between the first session and picking up the kids from school I sat down to make my card, three faux tags, a butterfly and two flowers this was going well. Later on putting them together during the evening Craft at Keryn's session it wasn't going as I planned and the card got changed and changed and eventually ended up with one tag butterfly. Here it is: - It is a pretty card but it wasn't what I planned and I had almost run out of time so I decided it would have to do.

On to the next card with the colours I'd chosen for my Colour Challenge. See my next post. This one went together beautifully and wouldn't you know it was a much better fit for the circle dare so this is the one I've posted on the Daring Cardmakers Blog.
